Big Day, Big Week

Nearly a week since Jeremy and family moved in. All is well from my perspective and I do enjoy having them around. I think the six months will fly by before we know it..... Big day yesterday (Wednesday) - I took no pain pills, not even over the counter stuff. Haven't had a prescription pain pill since Tuesday morning. I did have one dose of Ibuprofen today (Thursday) but only one.

New Day, uh Six Months

Jeremy, Erica, and Megan (aka, Jelly Bean) moved in this weekend. After many years of us being "empty nesters", the kids are back! They sold their house and the new house will not be ready for 6 months so we invited them to stay with us..... I think this will work out okay for everyone but Megan. She makes every effort to "keep the flock together". With Jeremy and me at work (where's Daddy?, where's Papa?) she focuses on Mom and Gran but finds it challenging when the two go separate ways. Her 19 month old emotions are a bit on edge these days but I think she just needs a few days to adjust.

Big Week Coming Up

I finally go back to work on Monday! Really looking forward to it...... Then later in the week Jeremy (our oldest), Erica (his wife), and Jelly Bean (aka Megan, their daughter) all move in with us until their new house is built and ready for occupancy. Connie has been feverishly preparing by packing up / throwing away / giving away all the stuff that we don't need and that has accumulated over the years in areas where they will live. It's a good excuse to clean out those rooms and to rearrange in ways that we should do ongoing. Better to do it for this reason than because we are moving!

Too Quiet!!!

Things are just too quiet around here. We kept two grandkids last week from Tuesday night until Friday evening - Kyler (aka, Butch) and Mandy (aka, Sweet Pea). They were a lot of fun as are all of our grandkids. Butch ragged on me several times to take him to a Ranger game so that will happen this weekend..... Thomas Group doesn't have any work for me right now but I'm hoping to get an assignment soon. I need to become productive again & owe them a lot for their support throughout this ordeal..... So, with no kids around and no work to do, things are real quiet and boring. I am not geared to this slow of a pace of life...... My therapy is going great as we have moved to a more varied set of exercises to continue rebuilding the core muscles which go beyond just the abs. It can be humbling though. For example, John (the therapist) told me to stand on one foot for 15 seconds & switch to the other foot and repeat. Easy enough - right? No way! I couldn't stand on one foot for more than 2 or 3 seconds. John says that it's just the weakness and retraining of the core muscles that's needed. I never would have thought of that as a by-product of what I've been through! Also, a great benefit of the therapy has been a continued reduction in need for pain pills. I can sometime go 24 hours or more between pills now.

Back to Work

Last week my doctor gave me a release to return to work - finally. I am really anxious to get to doing something productive again. Right now I am waiting for the Thomas Group to give me an assignment. Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to work on one of their government programs but I'll just have to wait and see.
