Lots to be Thankful for

What a great day! Shawn & Kelly hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for 22 including all of our kids and grandkids as well as extended family. Kelly, as usual, made an awesome dinner with help from Shawn (deep fried turkey) and some desserts from the other ladies. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family (and to be here to share time with them). I hope that next year I'll be physically able to do more. Now, I'll spend the rest of the weekend feeling guilty about eating too much....

Four Weeks Since

It's been four weeks since the last surgery and no change since last week. Pain-wise, I am back to where I was before the surgery minus the lower abdominal pain. The remaining pain is okay when I'm inactive but flares up when I eat or drink and with movement (as it has since the accident) - standing up, walking, rolling over in bed, etc. I think I'll just have to live with it and hope that time maybe helps it ease up more...... I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving and having the family all together. Shawn & Kelly are hosting and planning to deep fry the turkey. I'm sure the ladies will outdo themselves as usual on all the extras.

Three Weeks Today

My last surgery was three weeks ago today. The pain has diminished a good deal although I had learned to live with it okay before. The lower abdominal pain is gone completely leaving only the upper abdominal pain which is a big improvement and it seems to continue to get better. I have not worn the abdominal support the last 3 days so all is going in the right direction. As the doctor instructed I am taking it easy - just walking, no workouts until December at least.

Back to Work

Two weeks to the day after major surgery and I'm back at work yesterday. I'm grateful to be a fast healer and look forward to some meaningful work soon. In the meantime, it's back to the internal projects. I'm being used like a sales assistant rather than being on a consulting engagement. Oh well...... Feeling pretty good although I still have some abdominal pain - hopefully it's healing from this last surgery but I suspect that it's a combination. Maybe some day, no pain. But, the pain is at a tolerable level and I'm not taking any kind of medication so that's the good news.
